Sai Kishore, a left-arm spinner, recently stated that he considers himself “one of the best spinners in the country” right now.
So far, the left-arm spinner has only played for the national squad three times.
He also noted that his statement was made with great humility and admitted to working hard on his batting and fielding skills. He expressed confidence in his ability to rise up for the nation whenever the moment arose.
“I am definitely working on my batting and fielding. Not just these things, even my bowling with that regard to be multi-skilful if I can say that. I feel I am one of the best spinners in the country going around. I have already told this, and I really believe, and with all humility, I feel that. And whenever the chance comes, I think I will be ready for it,” stated Kishore, as quoted by Mint.
The 28-year-old also elaborated on the manner in which spin-bowling is approached by batters in the modern day. He also predicted how India, one of the best spin-playing nations in the whole world right now as per him, will play spin in the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies.
“The way of playing spin has changed. People now are very fearless, and they like to attack the spinner rather than just grinding the spinner. I wouldn’t say the quality of playing spin has declined. People are more counter-attacking. People are playing with more fearlessness. I feel in the upcoming Test series, Indian batters will be up for the challenge, and they will be playing spin much better than what the stats actually say. We are one of the best spin-playing nations in the whole world right now,” he concluded.
Sai Kishore has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket irrespective of the format. He is coming off a 19-wicket IPL 2025. Under Kishore’s leadership, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans emerged as the champions of the 2025 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
