Prior to the start of the intra-squad game at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham, players and staff from India and India A held a minute’s silence to remember those killed in the Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad airport on the afternoon of June 12.
The aviation accident shocked the entire nation. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared on X (previously Tiwtter) photos of players and backroom staff wearing black armbands in solidarity.
The BCCI organised the tour match between the two sides earlier this month in order to provide the team with some red-ball match preparation, as most of the players are coming off a busy Indian Premier League 2025 season.

India A are coming off a two-match Test series against the England Lions.
Both four-day games were a tie. Several players raised their hands and made significant contributions to the squad throughout the two matches played in Canterbury and Northampton, respectively.
India will face England in a five-match Test series. The highly anticipated series kicks off on June 20 in Headingley. It will be intriguing to see how the youthful Indian team adapts to English circumstances without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
There will be a number of players, including Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, and others, who will want to impress the selectors and management by delivering the goods in India’s first assignment of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle.
