Twitter Reactions: India defeats Bangladesh to guarantee a spot in the 2024 Women's Asia Cup final

In the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2024, India overcame Bangladesh by a margin of 10 wickets to secure their spot in the finals. At the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on July 26, the team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur had a great game with the ball and put on an outstanding display to win.

The team captained by Nigar Sultana struggled to get underway after choosing to bat first. Dilara Akter and Murshida Khatun, the openers, left the pitch early and returned in less than three overs with four and six runs scored, respectively. Ishma Tanjim, the number three batter, was unable to add many runs to the score and walked after only eight runs in ten deliveries. In an attempt to keep the innings steady in the middle, captain Sultana struck 51 off 32 balls. She hit two boundaries throughout her inning.

Rumana Ahmed, Rabeya Khan, and Ritu Moni, batting in the middle order, were unable to score more than seven runs between them due to a batting collapse. The last flourish came from Shorna Akter, who scored 19 runs off of 18 balls. In the 20 overs that they were given, the Bangla hitters could only muster 80/8.

Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav, two Indian bowlers, both took three significant wickets while giving up just 10 and 14 runs, respectively. Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar both finished with one wicket each.

The powerful Indians had it far easier when it came to the pursuit. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, the vice captain, and openers, destroyed the opposition bowlers from the first over, amassing 46 runs in the first six overs without losing a wicket. In order to lead her team to the finals, Mandhana scorched her 25th half-century. With nine boundaries and one six, the left-hander embellished her innings. Verma, on the other hand, hit two boundaries and remained unbeaten after 26 runs.

Later in the evening, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will square off in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 second semifinal at the same location.

Notably, X, formerly known as Twitter, was buzzing with India’s 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh:
