Along with Team India head coach Rahul Dravid, the BCCI chief Roger Binny announced the start of the ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and South Africa by ringing the famous bell at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, amid the gusto and excitement of Virat Kohli’s birthday. Notably, the Indian team has stayed unbeatable thus far, but the Proteas have been playing at an elite level in the main event.

The Mumbai-born batsman struck six boundaries and two sixes in a scorching 40 runs off only 24 balls. Though Team India had already put pressure on Rohit by scoring 62 runs in the first six overs, Bavuma had already made the crucial catch.
South Africa will field two spinners against Eden Gardens while Team India will play with no changes.
Regarding the team lineups for the current ODI World Cup 2023 match, Team India has selected the same lineup that they used against New Zealand. While playing the left-arm willy leg spinner Tabraiz Shamsi instead of Gerald Coetzee was a daring move made by South Africa. Similarly, Faf du Plessis, a former captain of Protea, said that his countrymen had made a really daring decision by playing two spinners, even if he himself wasn’t entirely confident about the plan.
In terms of the ODI World Cup points standings, South Africa has also won seven games, with the exception of the huge upset they experienced against the Netherlands in Dharamsala. Team India has remained untouchable, having won seven straight in as many games. Surprisingly, the Proteas were the only team to defeat the hosts in the final ODI World Cup, which took place at home in 2011.
