India is currently leading the T20 World Cup 2024 after defeating Pakistan by six wickets. Following their crushing 58-run loss to New Zealand in their season opener, there were doubts about the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team’s ability to recover and contend for a semi-final position. Prior to their match against India, Pakistan’s skipper Fatima Sana exuded confidence after her team overcame Bangladesh. But their batting failed them.
Renuka Singh Thakur removed Gull Feroza in the opening over, demonstrating the accuracy of Indian bowlers. From then on, Pakistan suffered since the batting conditions were difficult. With 28 runs, seasoned cricketer Nida Dar proved to be their greatest hitter while others had severe difficulty. Syeda Aroob Shah made a crucial 14-run cameo towards the end of the innings to enable Pakistan surpass 100.
With the ball, Arundhati Reddy shone for India, taking three wickets. In the middle overs, Shreyanka Patil was efficient, picking two while Renuka, Asha Sobhana, and Deepti Sharma each picked one.
Star batsman Smriti Mandhana left the game after just seven runs off of sixteen deliveries in the chase. But Shafali Verma, her opening partner, kept the scoreboard moving with a 32-run knock off 25 balls. With her 23 off 28, Jemimah Rodrigues gave her the majority of her support.
India was winning handily when they lost Richa Ghosh and Jemimah in the 16th over after consecutive deliveries. Pakistan gave it their all with the ball, but all of a sudden it placed the Women in Blue on the defensive. They ultimately ran out of runs on the board, though.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur hurt her neck during the penultimate over of the chase and had to limp back to the dressing room. She contributed a crucial 29-run knock that really aided India in the middle overs. India secured a vital victory thanks to a boundary from Sanjeevan Sajana to end the innings.
