The Champions Trophy 2025 trip to Pakistan has been declined by India. Consequently, all of India’s tournament matches will be held in the United Arab Emirates—a combined venue. Eight teams will compete for the prized trophy in all. India’s matches will take place in Dubai, while the other seven teams will play in three different locations in Pakistan: Lahore, Karachi, and Pakistan.
Since Pakistani stadiums were undergoing renovations, there were worries regarding their timely availability during the teams’ practice matches prior to the event.
The stadiums will be prepared for the practice matches, and India will play its match in Dubai, according to Hindustan Times.
According to the report, there have been no significant concerns expressed by the ICC delegation that has been inspecting the locations.
Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board has established a completion date for the grounds’ renovations. August of 2023 marked the start of the process, and December 31, 2024, was the deadline. Recently, however, the PCB said that the venues would be turned over to ICC by January 25. The stadiums’ prompt availability was immediately called into question, although PCB has assured that the venues will be prepared by the updated date.
“The renovation work is on track and the stadiums will be ready before the deadline,” declared the PCB.
The PCB moved four tri-series matches between South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan from Multan to Karachi, demonstrating their confidence in their ability to provide the venues on time. While Pakistan and New Zealand’s first Champions Trophy match will take place in Karachi on February 19, the series will take place throughout the second week of February.
