Tickets for the next Asia Cup 2025 match against India and Pakistan are still available. The arch-rivals will face off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 14.
Given the magnitude of the fight, this comes as somewhat of a surprise. However, the organisers’ ‘package scheme’ is to blame for the low demand for tickets to the typically popular event. Unlike past tournaments, where fans could buy tickets simply for the India-Pakistan match, this year they must buy the entire bundle of seven matches. Many cricketers are said to be disappointed as a result.
The purpose behind creating the ‘package concept’ was to promote other matches besides the India-Pakistan encounter.
However, the exorbitant prices appear to have backfired. Fans in both countries and around the world have expressed their disappointment.
Netizens have also urged that single-match tickets be released closer to the event. Many people have also voiced displeasure that the bundle does not include the Super Fours or the final, claiming that purchasing the package would have made more sense if the knockout matches had been included.
Meanwhile, there has been significant friction between the two countries since the terror incidents in Pahalgam earlier this year. A large group of Indian cricket supporters demanded that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) withdraw from the Asia Cup 2025.
However, the fixture was confirmed when the Indian government reaffirmed its stance on the topic, indicating that India will not participate in bilateral games with Pakistan but will continue to participate in multi-nation tournaments featuring Pakistan.
As it stands, India and Pakistan are slotted in Group A along with Oman and hosts UAE while Group B comprises Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. The tournament will be played across two venues: the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
