The Indian cricket squad is expected to go all out in preparation for the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on September 9 in the UAE. The Men in Blue will allegedly attend a fitness and training camp at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru before departing for the event. Notably, prior of the Asia Cup 2023, India held a two-week conditioning camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to improve their fitness and skills for the competition.
The Asia Cup will take place from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, India is in Group A with Pakistan, Oman, and hosts UAE. Their campaign begins on September 10 against the UAE, followed by a highly anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14.
Prior to the team announcement, several players, including Ishan Kishan, Riyan Parag, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer, had reported to the CoE for fitness tests. Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I captain, who recently recovered from sports hernia surgery, also passed his fitness test at the facility. These individual check-ins will lead to a full-squad preparation camp.
The camp at Bengaluru’s CoE would be critical for workload management and injury avoidance, particularly considering India’s hectic schedule. The Asia Cup will be followed by a white-ball series against Australia, a second assignment against South Africa, and then preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Notably, the senior men’s selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the tournament on Tuesday. The squad features Suryakumar Yadav wearing the captain’s hat, with Shubman Gill to serve as his deputy. The squad boasts a mix of youth and experienced players who are expected to defend the title.
