Aminul Islam of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has claimed that India’s August tour of Bangladesh has yet to be confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to Islam, the BCCI will make a decision on the tour following consultations with the Indian government.
If India does not arrive in August, the BCCI has informed the BCB that it will tour the nearby country during the next available window. However, no clear explanation for the tour’s ambiguity was supplied.
“I’ve already spoken with the BCCI. Discussions have been positive. We’re still hopeful. It is slated for [next month], but they are waiting for government decisions,” Islam told a press conference in Dhaka following a six-hour meeting of the BCB’s board of directors.
“The negotiations are ongoing. If they are unable to arrive in August, they will come at the next available opportunity. We are hoping to play during this window. “I can’t say much except that they are very professional and cooperative,” he continued.
In April, the BCB announced the schedule for India’s six-game white-ball trip of Bangladesh in August. The three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) will take place on August 17, 20, and 23, with T20Is on August 26, 29, and 31. The matches were scheduled for Mirpur and Chattogram.
This is India’s first bilateral Twenty20I series in Bangladesh.
It is also the Men in Blue’s first white-ball-only tour to Bangladesh since 2014, when they travelled to play three One-Day Internationals. The next tour will serve as final preparation for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, which India will host. The Asia Cup is most likely scheduled to take place in September.
