While Pakistan Women had already chosen their squad for the forthcoming three-T20I tour of Ireland, Sadaf Shamas was forced to withdraw from the 15-member lineup due to an untimely injury. As a result, the Fatima Sana-led team has welcomed Shawaal Zulfiqar as Shamas’ replacement for the away series on Irish soil.
Sadaf Shamas tore her left quadriceps muscles during a home training session in preparation for the series.
Shawaal, who plays the role of an opening batter, will now get the opportunity to demonstrate her abilities on foreign terrain when she joins the group in Ireland this Sunday. She returns to the side after a 19-month break from international cricket, with her previous T20I match being in December 2023.
