The controversy surrounding the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants appears to continue, as Naveen-ul-Haq was observed speaking with Rajeev Shukla, the Vice President of BCCI. Naveen, who engaged in a verbal duel with Virat Kohli in their previous match, was observed conversing with Shukla prior to LSG’s tenth match against the Chennai Super Kings on May 3 in Lucknow.
The 23-year-old was fined fifty percent of his match fee for his conduct on the field, while Kohli and LSG coach Gautam Gambhir were fined one hundred percent of their match fees for their altercation. After exchanging pleasantries following RCB’s 18-run victory, the two wound up in a heated argument.
The LSG coach appeared angered by Kohli’s sledging of Naveen and defended his player as he charged at the RCB batsman and engaged in a heated discussion. Notably, the two had previously engaged in a verbal altercation during IPL 2013 while commanding their respective teams, KKR and RCB.
The former RCB captain was angered by Gambhir’s farewell, and the two were observed engaging in a heated argument before being separated.
In IPL 2023, Naveen-ul-Haq has taken seven wickets.
In the past, Naveen-ul-Haq has been embroiled in heated exchanges, including a scuffle with Mohammed Amir and Shahid Afridi during the 2020 Sri Lanka Premier League.
In addition to his theatrics on the field, Naveen dismissed Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj for figures of 3/30 against RCB. In the first inning, LSG limited RCB to 126 for nine thanks to his bowling. However, the KL Rahul-led team ultimately lost by 18 runs, with the captain being compelled to bat despite suffering an injury during the first inning.
He had previously recorded 3/30 against the Punjab Kings. Naveen has taken seven wickets in four IPL 2023 matches so far, with an average of 14 and an economy rate of 6.12.
