After the devastating defeat, KKR got even worse news. The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, Shreyas Iyer, received a punishment because his team’s overrate was slow throughout the game. According to the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate infractions, this was their first infraction of the season. Iyer was hit with a Rs 12 lakh fine.
At Kolkata’s famed Eden Gardens Stadium, the 31st Indian Premier League 2024 match pitted the Kolkata Knight Riders versus the Rajasthan Royals. The Rajasthan Royals defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets in an exciting match.
After the painful defeat, Iyer acknowledged the unpredictable nature of cricket by comparing the match to an emotional roller coaster. He stressed the significance of moving on and taking lessons from the event.
Was playing this game like swallowing a harsh pill? I completely agree that our feelings were like riding a roller coaster; we never imagined that we would find ourselves in this predicament. He was hitting the ball cleanly and timing them so beautifully that, in the end, it’s a funny game. You just have to accept it and move on. In the post-match presentation, Iyer remarked, “You know that at this point in the game you are bowling your best deliveries, a little bit hit or miss and you are sent out of the ground. It’s good that it happened now rather than in the later stages of the tournament; good learning for us.”
Narine is a valuable member of the team, and he shows it each game: Shreyas Iyer
Iyer gave Sunil Narine kudos for his effort for the squad and gave him an explanation of the bowling technique. He highlighted the need to learn from mistakes and expressed delight in the team’s performance despite the loss.

“About Sunil Narine: He is a fantastic player who makes the most of every opportunity, and he proves this in every game. His presence on our squad makes me happy. It’s high pressure when you have five fielders inside the circle; you essentially don’t know where to bowl. He was striking the ball so well, so I decided to slow it down and give it to Chakaravarthy. It’s all about unwinding and revitalizing, and today was really muggy as well. Resilience and learning from our mistakes are crucial. We’re taking a few days off. Ultimately, it was an amazing match, with a few close overs, but overall, I’m very happy for the boys,” Iyer continued.
