On Friday, the Chennai Super Kings traveled to Lucknow to play the Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match number 34. After defeating the Mumbai Indians, the reigning champs entered the match. KKR, however, defeated Lucknow in their most recent game.
With Matt Henry replacing Shamar Joseph, KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first. Chennai made two changes: Moeen Ali replaced Daryl Mitchell, while Deepak Chahar took the place of Shardul Thakur.
50 runs from 5.5 overs for the Chennai Super Kings
Mohsin Khan beat Rachin Ravindra for pace and sent him out for a duck, giving the hosts an early advantage. When Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat at 4, Yash Thakur took the important wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 17.
Powerplay: Overs 0.1–6 (Required–51/2)
The bowlers for the Lucknow Super Giants performed a good job of containing the free-scoring CSK hitters. Especially Ruturaj Gaikwad’s early exit would have been a relief for the home team. To keep the scoreboard moving, Ravindra Jadeja hit a few boundaries.

Chennai Super Kings: 68/3 from 8.1 overs during the first strategic time-out
With the first delivery of the ninth over, Krunal Pandya successfully caught Ajinkya Rahane. The experienced CSK batsman was dismissed for 36 runs off of 24 balls after taking a nasty swipe across the line.
100 runs from 14.2 overs for Chennai Super Kings
Marcus Stoinis had a vital wicket of Shivam Dube for three after Ajinkya Rahane was out of the game. Then, as Jadeja was seen battling alone, Sameer Rizvi was out stumped for just one, giving Krunal his second wicket of the night.

(105/5 from 15 overs) at the second strategic timeout
The LSG bowlers ensured that the opposition batsmen could not score runs quickly by frequently taking wickets. At the time of the second time-out, the 35-year-old was batting on 40 while Moeen Ali was batting at number seven.
Half-century off 34 balls for Ravindra Jadeja
For CSK, it was a wise move to move Ravindra Jadeja up to number four. With a six off Mohsin Khan, the seasoned player reached his third IPL half-century. The ball was parried over the ropes, and Deepak Hooda, who was on the boundary, made a complete mess of the catch.
150 runs from 18.2 overs for CSK
After smashing Ravi Bishnoi for three straight sixes, Moeen Ali gained much-needed momentum. When he took the field to bat, MS Dhoni hammered Mohsin Khan for a four and a six, pushing the total above 150.
Twenty overs and 176/6 for the Chennai Super Kings at the end of the innings.
At one point, the Chennai Super Kings appeared to be having trouble scoring more than 140. The reigning champions were given a reasonable push with a very acceptable total to bowl at thanks to the turnstiles that were Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni. The previous skipper of CSK scored 28 runs off nine balls without being out, giving CSK another impressive victory.
