At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, in Indian Premier League 2024 match 41, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their second match of the season. In the 20 overs, RCB set a target of 206 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. In the chase, they restricted SRH to 171 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, winning by 35 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are still in third place after dropping just three of their eight games played. Conversely, the team from Bengaluru broke their run of six consecutive losses in the competition. Nevertheless, RCB is still at the bottom of the standings despite their second league victory.
Qualification Scenario for the SRH Playoffs
The 2016 winners have emerged victorious from their eight games this season, good for third place in the lucrative league thus far. The Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are not far behind them. The Pat Cummins-led team had put themselves in a good position to make the playoffs with their impressive performance against the Delhi Capitals. With a roster full of talented players in every position, SRH will try to place in the top two by winning at least four more games. With how they’ve been playing, it doesn’t seem plausible that they won’t make the playoffs.

It’s T20 cricket, so you won’t win every game, but the boys have been playing extremely well. Avoid obsessing over this too much. I believe our strength lies in our high-risk, high-reward approach with the bat. Not every game will benefit from it. Even in the one or two games where things didn’t go our way at first, we were still able to secure a respectable total. Cummins, the losing team’s captain, stated during the post-match presentation party on air that “we still think this is the right path for our boys.”
