Chief Executive Officer of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kavya Maran, was ecstatic following her team’s convincing six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, April 5, at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
One of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) most devoted club owners, Kavya attends nearly every Hyderabad game from the stands. The aspirational team owner has seen many highs and lows recently due to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s struggles over the past few seasons. For the second time in the past three seasons, the 2016 winners ended lower in the points standings. The Sunrisers, who have two wins and as many losses from their first four games, are now ranked No. 5 in the table and are beginning to show development under Pat Cummins.

Out of the 20 encounters between Sunrisers and CSK since 2013, the Sunrisers’ victory on Friday was just their sixth. After her team’s incredible triumph over the reigning champs, Kavya was spotted yelling and cheering for them.

Bowlers like Abhishek Sharma led SRH to a six-wick victory.
Cummins invited the Super Kings to bat after winning the toss. The bowlers from SRH displayed disciplined play, making it difficult for the Chennai batsmen to dismiss them. In the first inning, no other Chennai batsman appeared at ease, with the exception of Shivam Dube (45 off 24 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (31 off 23 balls). The five-time winners eventually battled their way up to 165/5 in their 20 overs.
Abhishek Sharma responded by smashing 37 off just 12 deliveries, giving the Sunrisers a thrilling start. IPL 2024 saw Hyderabad win by six wickets and 11 balls with plenty of time remaining. Travis Head (31 off 24) contributed a useful effort, and Aiden Markram (50 off 36 balls) achieved his first fifty in the competition.
