At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 19, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in Match 34 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). KL Rahul, the captain of LSG, won the toss and asked CSK to bat first.
CSK had a difficult batting opening, losing three wickets in the first ten overs. Nevertheless, Ravindra Jadeja saved the day for the visitors, who managed to hit a respectable 176 from 40 deliveries while staying undefeated. In the meantime, MS Dhoni made a spectacular cameo, batting lower on the order and scoring 28 runs off of only nine deliveries, including two maximums and three boundaries. After taking two wickets for 16 runs in three overs, Krunal Pandya became the star bowler for LSG.
In response, Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul scored 134 runs for the first wicket as the leaders of LSG’s innings. In the fifteenth over, Muztafizur Rahman dismissed the Proteas star after he had made 54 off 43 deliveries. The hosts had reached 161 at that point in the 18th over, when Rahul’s innings came to an end at 82 for 53. Afterwards, Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis brought the Super Giants’ innings to a close by successfully reaching the objective with six balls remaining.

2. KL Rahul’s performance and his fantastic collaboration with Quinton de Kock
K.L In both innings, Rahul took the lead for his team. In addition to scoring 82 runs off of 53 balls, the LSG captain and Quinton de Kock (54 runs contributed) had a strong partnership of 134 runs. In addition, the 32-year-old demonstrated his effect on the field by making an incredible grab to dismiss CSK’s power batter, Shivam Dube for just three runs.

3. The incredible late show by Nicholas Pooran
When LSG needed 43 runs in the final five overs, Nicholas Pooran came into the crease. Tushar Deshpande’s no-ball toss enabled the explosive West Indian batsman to secure the match with a boundary, giving Lucknow their fourth victory of the year. After hitting three fours and one six in just 12 deliveries, the wicketkeeper-batter continued to be undefeated with 23 runs.
