At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 2, the Gujarat Titans (GT) outplayed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), resulting in their first IPL 2025 loss. But in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match No. 14, Liam Livingstone’s on-field and batting performances for the home team were particularly noteworthy.
The Titans fielders gave the England all-rounder three lives in the first innings, indicating that he wasn’t playing at his best. He did, however, make it matter by smashing a 54 off 40 balls on a pitch that proved difficult to hit.
After being assigned to bat first, RCB finished with a decent score of 169/8 in 20 overs thanks to Livingstone’s knock.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan combined for 32 runs for the first wicket in the first five overs, giving Gujarat a respectable start. Thanks to a brilliant catch by Livingstone, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave the RCB their first breakthrough by dismissing the Gujarat captain.
On the fourth ball of the fifth over, the incident took place. Gill attempted to strike the infield with a lofted shot. Even though his target was over the cover area, the Punjab batter received a thick edge that lobbed up towards the deep backward point due to a hint of outward movement. Livingstone dived forward to make a fantastic catch after racing in from the boundary line.

Livingstone’s efforts that evening, however, were in vain as Mohammed Siraj’s three-for (3/19) and Jos Buttler’s undefeated half-century (73*) helped the previous champions secure a crucial victory. Sai Kishore’s and Siraj’s economical bowling spells have been crucial. Siraj’s team has greatly benefited from his ability to throw tight overs and take important wickets. In a same vein, Sai Kishore has successfully restrained opposition batsmen with his steady line and length, which has helped to increase pressure during crucial game moments.
