Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), made an early impression in his opening over, dismissing Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag in the current IPL 2025 Match No. 6 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The local youngster, who appeared to be in fine form, mistimed his stroke and walked back for 25 runs off 15 balls.
When Parag entered the batting order at number three, he quickly destroyed the KKR bowlers by hitting three sixes.
He was unable to attack Chakravarthy in the same way, though. The spinner tempted Parag into a lofted drive in the eighth over with a length delivery outside off-stump. However, the ball snagged the bat’s toe end and shot skyward.
In order to improve his perspective of the ball, Quinton de Kock, the wicketkeeper for KKR, who was positioned close to the pitch, instantly removed his helmet. The South African made an excellent catch, coming beneath the ball just in time to complete a clean take, even if it was high.

Following Parag’s dismissal, the home team lost another wicket in quick succession as Yashasvi Jaiswal departed off Moeen Ali’s bowling. At the end of 12 overs, RR’s scorecard read 84/5, with Dhruv Jurel and Shubham Dubey at the crease.
