At Visakhapatnam on March 24, Delhi Capital defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a single wicket in the first thrilling match of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Ashutosh Sharma had the innings of his life while chasing a target of 210. He hit an undefeated 66 off 31 balls to give his team an incredible victory with three balls remaining.
Prior to this, LSG recorded 209/8, helped by Mitchell Marsh’s 72 off 36 and Nicholas Pooran’s 75 off 30. LSG was headed for an even higher total after their 87-run partnership, but Mitchell Starc (3/42) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/20) caused a collapse that limited them to 209.
DC lost three wickets in two overs, which was a bad start to their chase. Though Vipraj Nigam’s 39 from 15 balls gave LSG some hope, Ashutosh ended the match. He took DC home with his daring batting and finishing.

3. Starc, Kuldeep share five wickets between them
Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav delivered crucial spells that kept LSG in the backfoot. The duo shared five wickets, helping the side get back into the game. Starc’s moment of brilliance came when he dismissed Nicholas Pooran. Starc bowled a perfect inswinging yorker, which crashed onto the stumps.
