At the Wankhede Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs in an exciting IPL 2025 match, making a spectacular return to winning ways. After MI had rallied for what appeared to be a single point, their dreams were dashed by Krunal Pandya’s outstanding final over, which handed Mumbai their fourth loss in five games.
After choosing to bowl first, MI got off to a strong start by dismissing Phil Salt early in the match. To steady the innings, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal fashioned a 91-run partnership. A key role in the total was performed by Kohli’s 67 off 42. In the 15th over, Hardik Pandya dismissed Kohli and Liam Livingstone, and captain Rajat Patidar took control, hitting 64 runs off of just 32 deliveries. With an undefeated 40 off 19, Jitesh Sharma helped RCB finish at 221/5. Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback performance (0/29), MI’s bowlers ended up costing a lot of money. Bumrah kept it close at 7.25, but RCB scored at 11.05 per over.
Rohit Sharma started the chase with a 17 from 9 balls, including two fours and a six, however he was dismissed by Yash Dayal. Following that, Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton displayed some intention but were unable to maintain it. After losing to Dayal for 28, Suryakumar Yadav passed away too soon.
MI was on the verge of a batting meltdown once more at 105/4. However, a combined 56 off 16 balls was contributed by Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma. Hardik gave it his all with 42 off just 15, while Tilak, back to his best, nailed 56 off 29. The pivotal moment came when Hazlewood dismissed Hardik in his spectacular penultimate over, with 17 needed off the last over. Bowling to his old team, Krunal Pandya ensured that RCB finished on a winning note with taking three wickets in the over.
