Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play one other at Eden Gardens on March 22 in the 18th Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). As the new season draws near, teams have begun revealing their new jerseys, each with its own distinctive design, meaning, and backstory.
IPL jerseys symbolize a team’s identity, enthusiasm, and fan connection; they are more than just uniforms. Each season’s jerseys are unique and interesting because of the franchises’ experiments with colors, patterns, and special tributes over the years.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented new regulations this year that forbid players from using sleeveless jerseys and floppy caps during post-match presentations, in addition to new designs. The goal is to uphold professionalism and the league’s reputation.
Here, we have ranked the jerseys of all 10 IPL teams this season:
1. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)- {9.5/10}
The defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) recently unveiled their new uniform for the forthcoming campaign, which differs significantly from the one they wore to win the title the previous year. The purple has become the primary focus, with a considerable reduction in the use of gold. Furthermore, the three-edged stars surrounding the Gemini constellation are a recent addition.
On May 27, 2012, June 1, 2014, and May 26, 2024, the squad won each of the three titles, and the stars were registered by then. In the meantime, the BCCI has added a gold IPL emblem on the sleeve which is exclusive to defending champions. In order to introduce their jerseys, KKR used the number three in their marketing campaigns. Manish Pandey, Venkatesh Iyer, and Rinku Singh were among the players wearing the new uniform in the reveal video. On March 22, Kolkata will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament’s opening match at Eden Gardens.
2. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)- {9.5/10}
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time champions, unveiled their new IPL 2025 shirt while maintaining their recognizable yellow. Veteran spinner and former Indian cricket player Ravichandran Ashwin, who rejoined the team after 2015, unveiled the jerseys despite the lack of a significant event. Etihad Airways’ acquisition of the prominent “front-of-shirt” sponsorship is a significant highlight of the new uniform. The airline, which had its emblem on the back of the shirt as an Associate Sponsor for the 2024 Indian Premier League, has now elevated their relationship by occupying the center of the jersey.
After MS Dhoni resigned as captain prior to the 2024 season, Ruturaj Gaikwad will take over as captain of CSK. Fans are thrilled to see their favorite hero return as the renowned wicketkeeper-batter is anticipated to compete in his final IPL season. Dhoni, Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana were all retained by the Chennai-based team, which placed fifth in the 2024 Indian Premier League. In a thrilling El Clásico match, CSK will take on the Mumbai Indians on March 23 to start their campaign.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)- {9/10}
The new jersey for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the 18th edition of the cash-rich tournament has been revealed. The IPL 2024 runners-up team showcased the newest uniform on their social media accounts. SRH has made only minor adjustments to its traditional orange and black motif.
With a video that included Team India’s Ishan Kishan, opener Abhishek Sharma, leg spinner Rahul Chahar, and Abhinav Manohar, the jersey reveal was done in style. In addition, the hit song “DNA” by well-known American rapper Kendrick Lamar played in the background while the players posed with the gear. The team’s IPL 2025 season will begin on March 23 at home against the Rajasthan Royals. The team from Hyderabad played a very aggressive style of cricket the previous season, which helped them advance to the summit match. In addition to showcasing the new uniform, the jersey introduction video included Pandya’s message to the supporters, which promised a powerful return.

When many devoted supporters did not connect with the 2024 shirt, the choice was made.
Ahead of their Unbox event on March 17, where it will be shown to fans, RCB unexpectedly revealed the jersey. When newly appointed captain Rajat Patidar arrived at the squad hotel prior to the 2025 season, he unveiled the jersey. On March 22, RCB will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match of their campaign. Prior to the sale, the team only retained three players: pacer Yash Dayal, Patidar, and star batsman Virat Kohli.
6. Rajasthan Royals (RR)- {8/10}
The Rajasthan Royals have honored the team’s cricketing legends and Rajasthan’s rich history by revealing their IPL 2025 shirt. The renowned Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower) in Chittorgarh served as the inspiration for the new uniform that the first champions unveiled on January 29. The side maintained its classic blue and pink hues. They have also expertly incorporated aspects of Rajasthan’s history into their clothing.
Students at Jodhpur’s National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) created the jersey, which combines elements of modern design with history. The names and jersey numbers of legendary players like the late Shane Warne, Rahul Dravid, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, and others were also included by RR as a way to celebrate both current and former heroes. They will also wear all-pink for the Pink Promise Match against the Mumbai Indians on May 1st as a special way to commemorate International Women’s Day. This limited-edition kit’s proceeds will assist women-led projects throughout the state by going to the Royal Rajasthan Foundation.
7. Gujarat Titans (GT)- {8/10}
The Gujarat Titans (GT) have released their new season shirt, which maintains their iconic dark blue pattern. The franchise hasn’t changed much from the previous seasons, maintaining the same aesthetic that fans have grown to adore. However, starting this season, GT will officially work with playR, a sports and lifestyle brand, as their merchandise partner.
The team has not yet revealed its captain, and rumors are growing in response to the franchise’s social media post that showed Rashid Khan gazing at a blank slate with the remark, “A clean slate.” “A new story,” sparking speculation that he would take Shubman Gill’s place as captain. After Hardik Pandya left in 2024, Gill, who had been retained for INR 16.5 crore, assumed the role. With well-known players like Jos Buttler, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada, GT has bolstered its team. 9. Delhi Capitals (DC)- {7.5/10}
The Delhi Capitals are once again using their traditional red and blue color scheme. Red has been the dominant color this season on the sides, shoulders, and sleeves, but the front and back are still entirely blue. In contrast to last year’s design, which was inspired by a metro route, the 2025 jersey has strong vertical lines across the front. On the front arm is the emblem of Puma, the official uniform supplier.
Rishabh Pant was released prior to the auction, and Axar Patel, a talented all-around player, has been named DC’s new captain. KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc were two more noteworthy additions to the team. In the meantime, Harry Brook of England was recently suspended from the IPL for two years after withdrawing from the season. 10. Punjab Kings (PBKS)- {7.5/10}
The Punjab Kings unveiled their new uniform before the season began. In keeping with its trademark red, the franchise has incorporated gold-foiled names and numbers, royal gold foiling on the sides, and gold-accented collars. The more textured insignia represents the strength and fighting ability of Punjab. The elastane underarm strip of the jersey ensures the players’ comfort. Punjab Kings have more significant news outside the jersey debut. Salman Khan, the Bollywood celebrity, announced Shreyas Iyer as the new captain of PBKS in a dramatic revelation on the popular Indian TV reality show Bigg Boss 18. Iyer was purchased by the team for a record-breaking INR 26.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega-auction, making headlines. The team, which finished in ninth place last year, will start its 18th IPL season with fresh hope under new head coach Ricky Ponting.
