The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) season has been suspended in the middle by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Following the Indian Army’s execution of Operation Sindoor, the decision was made in the midst of security tensions and a warlike situation with Pakistani forces. Tomorrow, the Australian players that participated in the league will return home.
IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal had earlier in the day said the league will proceed according to schedule, but a recent development has led to the tournament being postponed.
The event is unlikely to begin anytime soon due to the present warlike situation between India and Pakistan, while more information is needed. At this point, the only thing that can be said is that it will be suspended indefinitely.
The BCCI has informed the league’s franchises and other stakeholders to stop their season-long operations.
For those who are unaware, the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals game in Dharamshala was called off in the middle of play due to a technical issue caused by the HPCA Stadium’s floodlights failing. To prevent any harm to the public, law enforcement officials in the area declared a blackout shortly after the news. Because the game could not continue, the players, match officials, and spectators at the stadium were asked to leave.
Arun Singh Dhumal had stated on Friday morning that the competition would go according to schedule, but by midday, the exact reverse had occurred. The board has previously announced plans to provide the cricket players and other participants with enough logistical support so they can travel safely and eliminate any security risks.
Will DC vs. PBKS be rematched?
It is important to remember that the teams did not split the points even though Match 58 ended in a No Result match. Although nothing can be formally verified at this time, there is a good chance that the game will restart when or if the tournament resumes. The points were shared in the event that prior matches were abandoned due to weather, but in the PBKS vs. DC match, neither team shared a point, and this hasn’t been factored into the total number of games played by either team.
It is reasonable to presume that the IPL 2025 Points Table was most recently updated as of Match 57, in which the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens.
