The 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) auction is slated to take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Mallika Sagar, a renowned art collector and auctioneer who recently oversaw the massive auction for the Women’s Premier League 2026, will host the gala event. The forthcoming auction will be the third to not be held in India.
From the 1355 names on the list, 359 players have been shortlisted. 244 of the 359 are Indian, with 115 from other countries. A total of 40 players have set their base prices at a maximum of INR 2 crore. Only two of those forty (Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi) are Indian.
There are 77 seats available, 31 of which are for overseas players. The Kolkata Knight Riders have the most vacancies, at 13. They are closely followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have ten.
Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, and Prithvi Shaw will be available for the franchises to target in the first round. Several uncapped players who have performed well on the domestic circuit, including Jammu and Kashmir’s Auqib Nabi, Rajasthan’s Ashok Sharma, and Uttar Pradesh’s Prashant Veer, are also part of the auction.
The franchise’s maximum team size is 25 players. An eight-player cap has been imposed for international players. A squad must consist of at least 18 players. The auction will begin with a set of capped batters.
