According to Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Arun Dhumal, the league’s officials were not aware of any more festivities occurring in Bengaluru, as the official celebrations for RCB had ended the night before. After 18 years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally raised their first IPL title as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final, which took place in Ahmedabad on June 3.

However, a rush during the win celebrations in Bengaluru transformed what was supposed to be a time of joy into a tragedy, killing eleven people and injuring numerous others. Dhumal explained that the previous evening saw the completion of all formal rituals and celebrations approved by the team and the IPL. There were tragically fatalities as a result of the unplanned and unofficial mob gathering in Bengaluru to celebrate RCB’s historic victory degenerating into pandemonium.

Thousands of supporters gathered to watch the RCB team celebrate their first IPL championship. Many spectators were suffocated by the crowd’s oppressive density, which sparked mayhem. Several others were hurt when the stadium gates collapsed amid the confusion.

The police made an effort to control the situation, but it was challenging because there were significantly more people in the throng than there were security guards. Regrettably, the triumph celebrations ended tragically, with numerous fatalities and injuries.

Regarding the unfortunate circumstances that transpired, the RCB released an official statement.

We are really distressed by the regrettable events that have been revealed by media reports of public gatherings held throughout Bengaluru in the lead-up to the team’s arrival this afternoon. “Everyone’s safety and well-being are our top priorities,” the statement said.

“RCB is deeply sorry for the loss of life and sends our condolences to the families who have been impacted. When the matter was brought to our attention, we immediately changed our program and heeded the local administration’s advise. It went on to say, “We ask all of our supporters to please stay safe.”
