With certain superstars and a certain “King Khan” scheduled to perform for the spectators, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has done all possible to make the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 an exciting event. For the first time since 2015, the gala ceremony will take place solely in Eden Gardens in Kolkata. On Saturday, March 22, just before the first match between the reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), stars will light up the stage.
At 6 PM (IST), the opening ceremony is scheduled to start. A few minutes later, Shah Rukh Khan is supposed to give a monologue. The renowned Shreya Ghoshal will captivate the audience with her amazing voice shortly after this. Following Ghoshal’s performance, Bollywood actress Disha Patani will groove to some heart-pounding tunes. Karan Aujla, an Indian rapper and vocalist, will thereafter make an appearance.
Before calling the BCCI officials and celebrities to the stage, Shah Rukh will be seen once more chatting with the cricket players. Before the main event, the season opener between two well-liked teams, begins, there will be a cake cutting, balloon release, and drone show.

Will rain play spoilsport?
KKR and RCB are starting new eras with new captains at the helm in IPL 2025. Fans are waiting with bated breath for what promises to be an epic clash. However, the weather Gods seem to be in a different mood altogether.
Persistent rain on Friday evening forced an early end to the practice sessions for both teams. The pitch and ground remained under covers. Eden Gardens is one of the few grounds to have a full ground cover. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an “orange alert” for Friday and Saturday. Thundersqualls and gusty winds are expected during the match hours. Several districts of West Bengal, including Kolkata will experience moderate rainfall.
