The defending IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made history on Friday when they made their first-ever appearance in Gangtok, bringing the splendour of their third championship victory to the scenic capital of Sikkim.
In the hill station, the journey started with special visits to the Do Drul Chorten Buddhist temple and the venerable Rumtek Monastery. Fans had a rare chance to witness the grandeur of KKR’s most recent triumph as the coveted trophy was then displayed in all its splendour at the West Point Mall on MG Road.
Fans of KKR get the opportunity to relive the team’s stellar 2024 season, which concluded in glory, as this unique Trophy Tour continues its journey around East India. There was a huge crowd in Gangtok as spectators came to watch the IPL trophy and take part in the festivities.
As the excitement of the new season draws near, the tour will go to Siliguri on March 2 after stopping in Gangtok. Before the team’s season-opening match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the storied Eden Gardens on March 22, the Trophy Tour will finally come to an end in Kolkata on March 16.
