Bangladesh is left in Ish Sodhi’s 6-fer packages.
On Saturday, September 23, at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh and New Zealand squared off in the second match of the three-match series following a washout in the first ODI. After choosing to bat first, New Zealand was welcomed by Bangladeshi captain Litton Das. Mustafizur Rehman’s dismissals of both openers Finn Allenn (12 off 15) and Will Young (0 off 8) with only 26 runs scored served as proof of the correctness of the decision.
After some early blows, the innings was stabilized by Henry Nicholls and Tom Blundell’s 95-run partnership (49 off 61 and 68 off 66 respectively). When Nicholls was fired by Khaled Ahmed, their partnership came to an end. Additionally making significant contributions, Cole McConchie (20 off 33) and Ish Sodhi (35 off 39) helped their team reach a respectable final score of 254.
For the hosts, Khaled Ahmed (3/60) and Mahedi Hasan (3/45) both took three wickets. In their reply, Bangladesh also struggled as captain Litton Das was removed by Kyle Jamieson in the sixth over of their innings. After the early setback, Tamim Iqbal (44 off 58) steadily advanced the innings and led the team above 50.

As a result of dismissing Hasan (16 off 12) and Soumya Sarkar (0 off 2) in the same over, Ish Sodhi managed to get his team back into the game. Towhid Hridoy (4 off 7) and Tamim Iqbal (44 off 58) were also removed by the wristspinner, leaving the hosts in trouble at 92/5.
With the help of four fours and a six, Mahmudullah managed a solid knock of 49 (76), trying to get his team back in the game. Cole McConchie, however, fired him, putting the hammer in the coffin. As a result, Ish Sodhi took 6/39 in ten overs to dismiss Bangladesh for 168. With an 86-run victory, New Zealand established a 1-0 series lead over the other two teams.
X was awash with commentary in response to New Zealand’s victory. Some of the posts are as follows:
“When New Zealand plays cricket with Bangladesh, it’s like asking a Kiwi to dance with a tiger – unexpected moves and a twist in the tail, but the Kiwis still waltz their way to victory! 🏏🇳🇿🐯 #CricketBanter” #NZvBAN

Ish Sodhi did really well against Bangladesh. He took six wickets and only gave away 39 runs. The fourth best ODI figure ever in Bangladesh.

Ish Sodhi was run out at the non strikers end by Hasan Mahmud.
The third umpire checked and gave OUT! But when Sodhi started walking out, skipper Litton Das and Hasan Mahmud called him back again.
Sodhi gave Hasan a hug at the end.
