At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the 27th game of the 2025 Indian Premier League has begun. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) chose to bat first after winning the toss. In contrast to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which replaced Kamindu Mendis with Eshan Malinga, PBKS remained the same.
In a high-stakes opening, PBKS opened with Prabhsimran Singh and youngster Priyansh Arya, while SRH gave the new ball to Mohammed Shami. The game was in disarray from the second ball of the innings. Outside off, Shami produced a length delivery that appeared to be an easy couple for Prabhsimran, who smashed it right past the bowler.
Ishan Kishan, however, fielded clumsily and, surprise, missed the ball despite it being practically next to him.
The third umpire called a short run, and the batter failed to ground his bat as he completed the second run, adding to the drama. Consequently, the scoreboard was updated to reflect just one. An fierce contest got off to a spectacular start.
Even though there was confusion, PBKS came out firing. In just four overs, they sped to 66 runs while keeping their run rate at 16.5. After a scorching 36 off 13 balls, Priyansh Arya was caught by Harshal Patel after the opening partnership had established a strong foundation. With a forceful 28 off just 13 balls, Prabhsimran Singh carried on the attack, and captain Shreyas Iyer joined him at the crease.
PBKS is feeling very confident after winning three of their first four games of the season. With only one victory from five games, SRH has had a dismal start. In their home match against the dominant Punjab team, SRH will try to turn things around in front of their supporters and fight hard.
