Ravindra Jadeja’s outstanding performance in the opening match of India’s ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies in Ahmedabad propelled him to a career-high 25th position in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings.
The 36-year-old’s previous high, when he hit 104 not out in India’s only innings, was 29th place in July of this year. He is now at a career high of 644 rating points.
Jadeja’s four wickets in the second innings also helped him expand his advantage at the top of the all-rounders’ table to 125 points over Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj extended his outstanding form from the England tour, with figures of four for 40 and three for 31 propelling him three places to a career-best 12th position and past the 700-point threshold for the first time in his career following India’s innings and 140-run triumph.
Other Indian squad members who have advanced in the batting rankings include K.L. Rahul and Dhruv Jurel, who both scored centuries. Rahul has moved up four places to 35th, and Jurel has risen 20 places to 65th with his first Test century.
Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist-spinner, has moved up seven positions to 21st after claiming two cheap wickets in the encounter.
There was little reason to cheer for the West Indies players, as no batter reached a half-century and no bowler took more than two wickets.
Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh has returned to the top ten of the batting table for the first time since February 2024, hitting 85 in the first match and 103 not out in the third match of the series against New Zealand.
Tim Robinson of New Zealand scored an unbeaten 106 in the first match of the series at Mount Maunganui, propelling him up 58 places to joint-22nd.
Bangladesh trounced Afghanistan 3-0 in their series in the United Arab Emirates, with Saif Hassan’s undefeated 64 in the third match propelling him into the top 20 for the first time. Tanzid Hasan has moved up from 43rd to 37th place, while Parvez Hossain has risen from 71st to 53rd.
Rashid Khan, Afghanistan’s leg-spinning all-rounder, took four for 18 and two for 29 in the first two matches, propelling him back to number two in the bowling rankings, his highest since June last year.
Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad (up eight places to 17th) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (up six places to 23rd) move up the bowling rankings, while Bangladesh’s Tanzim Hasan Sakib (up nine places to 33rd), Shoriful Islam (up 21 places to joint-49th), and Player of the Series Nasum Ahmed (up from 131st to 44th) all advance.
