Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian veteran spinner, defended opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, encouraging perspective in the face of criticism for dropped catches. The left-handed batter squandered multiple opportunities in the slip cordon, which proved costly for India in the first Test in Leeds.
Ashwin defended the kid, who has received a lot of criticism, pointing out that he was not the only one at fault; Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant all dropped catches during the match.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif also explained why Jaiswal dropped catches during vital periods of the game.
“Why is Yashasvi Jaiswal dropping catches? We practise with Duke’s ball, and if we get harmed, we put on a strap.
In such a case, the fingers become locked and there is no free mobility. The strap becomes a sponge, making it impossible to grasp onto the catch. The ball bounces off it, therefore that’s the disadvantage. “The natural connection to the ball should not be lost,” Kaif stated on his YouTube account.
Ashwin also pushed on including Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI for the Birmingham Test, which begins on July 2.
“I’d like to see how England performs when they face him. If Kuldeep can get you a 3/100 and bring the first-inning score down to 350, you will have a 125-run lead. I was convinced that Kuldeep had a role and would be a deciding element. “If Kuldeep had played, the game could have turned out differently,” Ashwin concluded.
