Star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a dream run in Test cricket, ever since his debut against the West Indies in late 2023.
In 25 Tests so far, Jaiswal has tallied for 2245 runs at an impressive average of 49.88 with six hundreds. He has a couple of double hundreds as well. However, the red-ball success hasn’t forced the selectors to think of making him a regular in the ODI or the T20I squad.
Jaiswal, who played his only One-Day International in early 2025, has been marked as the future replacement once legendary opener Rohit Sharma calls it quits in the format. While Jaiswal’s T20I stats are also impressive, not forget his IPL heroics with Rajasthan Royals, he is nowhere in the picture since Abhishek Sharma’s debut. However, the youngster feels that he will eventually get whatever is written in his fate, and he focusses on controllable factors.
“Being in the white-ball team is not my decision, and it’s not even in my control. There’s no point thinking about things that aren’t in my hands. I prefer to focus on improving what I can control. I try to live in the present and believe that whatever happens, happens for good. Whatever is written in my fate, no one can take it from me. And whatever isn’t meant for me, no one can give it,” Jaiswal said during a conversation with Raj Shamani on the latter’s YouTube channel.
