Star Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s arrival at rock band Coldplay’s final India concert on Sunday was a huge surprise for the entire Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Cameras panned to the pacer in the audience as Chris Martin, the main singer, dedicated a special song for him at the Republic Day concert.
“Oh, all right, my lovely brother Jasprit Bumrah.
The greatest bowler in all of cricket! Watching you annihilate England with wicket after wicket is not enjoyable to us. Many thanks, Jasprit Bumrah. In the final moments of the performance, Martin said, “I love you, see you later!” as the crowd erupted in enthusiastic shouts.

In last year’s five-match Test series, which the home team won 4-1, a medley of some of Bumrah’s wickets for India against England was shown on the stadium’s big screen. Bumrah finished the series with an incredible average of 16.89, having taken 19 wickets in eight innings.
It’s interesting because last week at the band’s performance in Navi Mumbai, Martin called out Bumrah’s name on stage. A few days later, the celebrity left the crowd at the venue in stitches when he read a funny statement from Bumrah’s lawyers regarding the unauthorized use of his name. The arrival of the star cricketer at the Ahmedabad event sparked a lot of conjecture among Coldplay and Indian cricket enthusiasts.
Currently on tour in India, England’s white-ball team is playing eight games (three ODIs and five T20Is). According to reports, Bumrah will play in India’s final ODI match against England, contingent on his fitness. He suffered a back injury on the last day of the just finished tour Down Under. The hosts have already won the matches in Chennai and Kolkata to take a 2-0 lead over England.
