Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian pace star, has returned to the Mumbai Indians (MI) roster in front of their April 7 matchup with Royal Chaleters Bengaluru (RCB). The pacer’s availability for the game, which is scheduled for Monday at Wankhede Stadium, was confirmed by MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene.
Following approval from the BCCI’s medical staff at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, the right-arm bowler arrived at the MI camp on Saturday. The Ahmedabad native is now scheduled to take part in the team’s workout on Sunday, the night before the game.
“He’s training today and should be available [for the RCB game].” He came last night, saw NCA (now Centre of Excellence) for his sessions, and was given to our physiotherapists. “Everything is fine because he’s bowling today,” the MI head coach stated, as reported by.
Due to their lack of experience in the current IPL 2025 season, MI’s poor bowling unit will greatly benefit from the right-handed bowler’s comeback. In their four games thus far, the team has lost three of them. The bowling attack was spearheaded by Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar while Bumrah was out.
The return of Jasprit Bumrah is even more important because the pace attack has included somewhat untested bolwers like Vignesh Puthur, Ashwani Kumar, and Satyanarayana Raju.
Due to a stress injury he sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Sydney Test earlier this year, the Gujarat fast bowler has not participated in competitive cricket. Additionally, the 31-year-old was absent from India’s home series against England and the Men in Blue’s subsequent victory of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Bumrah has been gradually increasing his workload in the last few weeks while putting his complete recuperation first. The Indian team management is also eager to control his fitness when the five-Test series in England starts on June 28.
