A recent video of Indian pace star Jasprit Bumrah’s training went viral online, showing him bowling at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Since suffering a lower-back injury during the Sydney Test of the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the right-arm bowler has been sidelined. He was unable to participate in India’s successful 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign due to the same injury.
Mahela Jayawardene, the head coach of the Mumbai Indians (MI), recently gave an update on the pacer’s recuperation, saying he has been keeping a careful eye on the bowler’s development. The Sri Lankan did note, though, that the Centre of Excellence’s medical staff has not provided a specific timeframe for his comeback to competitive cricket.

The sight of Bumrah bowling in the nets is a huge lift for MI and its supporters, who have been struggling in the current IPL 2025 following two straight losses. The famous slow starts have dropped their first two games of the season, falling to Gujarat Titans by 36 runs in Ahmedabad and to Chennai Super Kings by four wickets in Chennai.
Hardik Pandya and company will be keen to improve matters at the Wankhede Stadium when they play the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home on March 31.
India will play England in a five-match test series in June on the international scene. Given the challenging English conditions, the Gujarat-born bowler’s presence would be vital to the team if he is healthy.
