Ravichandran Ashwin assessed the IPL 2025 Eliminator between the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, in which the five-time winners advanced to the Qualifier 2 with a magnificent 20-run victory over Shubman Gill’s side. The CSK cricketer commended Jasprit Bumrah, claiming that the match between GT and MI could have been more intriguing if the speedster hadn’t delivered the 14th over of the innings.
The former Indian spinner discussed how GT could easily achieve the needed run rate with enough wickets in hand and a set tandem of Washington Sundar and B Sai Sudharsan in the middle. In his final over, Bumrah gave up 9 runs after Rahul Tewatia hammered him for a six. Ashwin insisted it was a brilliant spell from the unconventional bowler.
“This game may have gone much closer if Jasprit Bumrah’s over had not occurred.
The asking rate was about 12, 13, 14, yet he only let up 7 or 8 runs in his final two overs. Rahul Tewatia struck him for a six, but the way he came back and scored one run off the next two balls defines Bumrah,” he stated on his YouTube account.
He makes a captain appear better than they are: Ravichandran Ashwin
The right-arm spinner considered Ashwin to be a cheat code in modern-day cricket, comparing him to the Road Rash NFS game. “I tweeted during the T20 World Cup that Bumrah is a cheat code for today’s T20 cricket. Have you ever played the Road Rash NFS game? “It’s a cheat code,” Ashwin explained.
The experienced spinner believes that the right-arm pacer is so effective at times that the skipper has an advantage. He believes Bumrah helps his skipper look good by landing yorkers and slower ones to perfection.
“Playing these games allows you to enter codes and go faster. You can outperform everyone else. This is a cheat code. In today’s world, as a captain, I sometimes believe Jasprit Bumrah makes captains appear better than they are. The way he kills those yorkers and switches up his slower balls,” the former India cricketer said.
