In a big setback for India, Jasprit Bumrah is certain to miss the entirety of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home. Back pain struck Jasprit Bumrah in August 2022. He did, however, make a comeback in September 2022, playing two T20Is against Australia at home, although he was forced to take a significant absence from the sport as his ailment resurfaced.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) apparently does not want to risk Jasprit Bumrah with the ODI World Cup, which is set to be contested in India later this year.
Jasprit Bumrah was anticipated to return by the third Test of the four-match series, but is now ruled out of the entire series.
Since his fitness levels were unknown, the management decided not to use the right-arm bowler for the Sri Lanka ODI series in January 2023, keeping him fully healthy for the 50-over World Cup. This decision was made for the same reason why he was pulled from that series. Jasprit Bumrah was also selected for India’s T20 World Cup team, but Mohammed Shami took his position.
BCCI is not putting Jasprit Bumrah at danger during the ODI World Cup.
Bumrah availability for the ODI series against Australia has not yet been decided, according to a report by the Telegraph, and his prospects of playing remain slim.
” Bumrah has been practising full-tilt bowling at the NCA for the past few days, and he has recovered well. The most positive thing for him is that there hasn’t been any stiffness since the previous day, according to sources, as reported by the Telegraph.
Bumrah is now honing his white-ball techniques at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. He has additional time for recovery after a break from the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
