The talismanic Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament after India won the T20 World Cup last year. Despite bowling well, he has occasionally been overshadowed by India’s spin-bowling trio in the ongoing Asia Cup.
Jasprit Bumrah has taken five wickets in four Asia Cup matches, at an average of 22.
Aside from the Super Four match against Pakistan, where he gave 45 runs in four overs without taking a wicket, Bumrah has been outstanding.
Fans are particularly anxious about his condition, especially after deciding to play only three of the five Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Tests against England in order to control his workload.
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif tweeted on Thursday, September 25, that Bumrah was used at various phases of the innings by Rohit Sharma. Kaif stated that Bumrah did not bowl two overs in a row under Rohit’s captaincy. According to the cricketer-turned-expert, the Gujarat seamer now only bowls after warming up, in order to avoid injury.
Kaif claimed that the tactic of using three overs of Bumrah during the powerplay and keeping only one for the death overs could be damaging to the Men in Blue against tougher opponents in next year’s T20 World Cup.
“Bumrah under Rohit would typically bowl overs 1, 13, 17, and 19. In the Asia Cup under Surya, he bowled three overs at the start. To minimise damage, Bumrah now prefers to bowl with his body warmed up. One over of Bumrah in the remaining 14 overs is a tremendous relief for batters; nevertheless, against tougher teams in the World Cup, this could cost India,” Kaif commented on ‘X’.
However, Bumrah replied to this tweet a few hours later and wrote: “Inaccurate before inaccurate again”.

Bumrah is expected to be rested for the inconsequential encounter between India and Sri Lanka on Friday, September 26. He will play a key role in Sunday’s final against the winner of the virtual semi-final clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which takes place on Thursday.
