Jay Shah is optimistic that the Women's Premier League will revolutionise women's cricket.

Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), believes that the inaugural Women’s Premier League would not only be a tremendous success, but will also bring about a major transformation in women’s cricket.

Mumbai will host the much-anticipated inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) from March 4 to March 26. The Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium will host all of the matches, with the tournament opening between Gujarat Giants and a franchise controlled by Mumbai Indians.
Jay Shah views WPL as a precursor to revolution.
NDTVSports quoted the BCCI secretary as saying, “The WPL will serve as a model for other sports to follow.”

Jay Shah could hardly contain his excitement as he continued to explain that the BCCI was extremely happy and ecstatic to have not only conceived, but also planned and ensured that the WPL would be well-executed, hence setting a precedent in the sporting world for other boards to follow.
In addition, he seems certain that the WPL will radically alter how women’s cricket is perceived and viewed, and that aspiring female cricketers will have little difficulty achieving their goals on the global arena.

“The WPL will revolutionise how we perceive women’s cricket. The enormous success of the WPL auction has not only afforded many aspiring cricketers the chance to display their skills on a worldwide scale, but it has also provided young aspiring cricketers with the same opportunity “Shah declared.

“As the league evolves, the extremely favourable response from fans around the world will only continue to grow. After 2008, we observed what transpired with the men’s IPL and the emergence of other sports leagues. The WPL would promote the development of multi-sport participation among women “The secretary of the BCCI stated.
Shah further remarked that even before a single game of the WPL has been played, this league has become one of the largest sports leagues in the world, which demonstrates the significance of such events in paving the way for the future of sports.

“Without any bowling, the WPL is the largest league in sports. The WPL will further strengthen the environment surrounding women’s cricket, which is well on its way to becoming a mainstream sport. The early reception of the WPL has unquestionably demonstrated the league’s ability to become the premier women’s domestic athletic competition “Shah concludes.
