The standout player on Day 2 of the second Test match between Bangladesh and the West Indies at the Sabina Park Oval in Jamaica was pacer Jayden Seales. The visitors got off to a respectable start when Shadman Islam batted first, scoring 64 runs, but the opener had little assistance from the other end. In the first innings, the visiting team managed just 164 runs, with captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz scoring 36 and Shahadat Hossain Dipu scoring 22 runs each.
As this was going on, Jayden Seales bowled 10 maidens in 15.5 overs and claimed a four-wicket haul.
Near the end, the 23-year-old showed ruthlessness by taking the crucial wicket of Miraz, who appeared to be in good form. With three wickets, Shamar Joseph had an excellent day with the ball as well. Veteran Kemar Roach took two wickets, and Alzarri Joseph took his only wicket from Taijul Islam.
The second inning saw a respectable start from the batters. On Day 2, captain Kraigg Brathwaite took his time, and the opener went undefeated with 33 runs off 115 deliveries. After scoring 12 runs, Mikyle Louis, the other opener, left. In the game’s thirteenth over, he was defeated by Nahid Rana. Following his expulsion, Keacy Carty took over at the crease and managed to stay out of trouble with 19 runs off 60.
At Stumps, the West Indies batted 70/1 and are now 94 runs behind. In order to put pressure on Bangladesh, the hosts would anticipate a stronger batting display on Day 3 and take a significant lead. Pacer Shamar discussed West Indies’ outstanding bowling performance after the day’s play was over. He also addressed speaking with the coach during their preparation and adding that he wanted to adhere to his fundamentals, which is what got him the outcome.
Our goal was always to come out here and do our best. We spoke with the bowling coach a couple times. He advised us to limit our activities to the bare minimum. Personally, I simply follow the plans. I strive to bowl as quickly and precisely as I can. He stated, “I always try to bowl it on a good line and length.”

Jayden Seales, you sneaky bowling wizard!
10 maidens, 5 runs conceded, 4 wickets – he’s got the most economical figure in Tests since Majid Khan on 1 April 1977 (min. 10 overs bowled). #WTC25 #WIvBAN pic.twitter.com/cF3uQEwvqa

Jayden Seales is one of the most underappreciated pacers of today. In 7 Tests this WTC cycle, he has 34 wkts @ 19.5. Played big roles in each of the three series.
Amazing figures in Jamaica overnight. Anyone got a ball by ball?

Things might change later in this inning but at this moment, Jayden Seales has delivered the most economical Test spell in the last 45 years (minimum 10 overs).
His final 4 overs undid some of his brilliance, with his figures slipping from an incredible 9-7-2-1 to 13-9-4-1 pic.twitter.com/BLGSpfXa7o— Abhishek AB (@ABsay_ek) December 1, 2024
