One of the most sought-after players at the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) auctions will be the 22-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues. In 75 T20I games since her 2018 international debut, the Indian batsman has amassed 1575 runs. For the Indian side, she has scored 394 runs overall in 21 one-day international games.
Jemimah Rodrigues has talked openly about her early hardships in Mumbai and her expectations for the inaugural WPL season. The 22-year-old described her love of cricket as a child and what motivated her to take it up.
“All I wanted to do was play cricket since I loved it so much. Since we frequently lacked grounds at the time, we had to find players wherever we could, which was unusual at the time for a girl to play cricket in India. I wouldn’t claim that it isn’t taking place. However, neither my dad, who served as my coach, nor I were aware that women’s cricket even existed. I only participated for the fun of playing cricket “On Jio Cinema, Jemimah Rodrigues was reported as saying.
I have no doubt that it will be unique: Rogers’ opinion of the WPL sale
Jemimah Rodrigues talked openly about a wide range of subjects, including Sachin Tendulkar, the renowned Indian batter who she grew up idolising. Ahead of the first WPL auction, which is slated to take place on February 13, she also discussed how she is feeling.
When discussing the same, she remarked, “We have consistently followed the men’s IPL and the auction process. It is incredibly exciting, and I was already engrossed in it. As a result, we frequently envision what it would be like to have that kind of moment, but we have not yet done it because it has not yet occurred. But given that this would be the inaugural WPL, I know it will be something amazing when it happens.”
