Jitesh Sharma of Royal Challengers Bengaluru not only showed off his hitting prowess but also demonstrated acute glove awareness, helping to orchestrate the wicket of Ryan Rickelton, the opener for the Mumbai Indians. The host team’s chase faced early difficulties, including the astute DRS call that resulted in Rickelton’s dismissal, even though RCB scored 221/5 in their allocated 20 overs.
In the meantime, Rickelton hit four outstanding boundaries in his 10-ball 17 before the event occurred in the fourth over of the chase. Josh Hazlewood delivered a back-of-a-length delivery that straightened just enough to beat his bat stroke and undid him.
Jitesh quickly persuaded captain Rajat Patidar to review even though the on-field umpire rejected the appeal.
Hawk-Eye verified that the ball would have struck the top of the middle and leg, and replays revealed no bat involvement.

After being requested to bat first, RCB had previously posted a total. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, the openers, took the blame after Phil Salt was out early and set up a crucial 91-run partnership. Padikkal contributed with a 37, but Kohli took the lead with a 67 off 42 balls. Following that, Rajat Patidar, the captain of the RCB, hammered a rapid 64 off 32 deliveries. After leading RCB to 221/5 in their 20 overs with an undefeated 40 off just 19 balls, Jitesh performed admirably at bat.
Despite finishing wicketless, MI’s best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, let up just 29 runs in his four overs. The remainder of the MI effort against the RCB hitters appeared to be ineffectual. With 222 needed to win, Mumbai needed to get off to a fast start. Returning from a break due to injury, Rohit Sharma looked terrific at first, starting the chase with a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and two consecutive boundaries off Yash Dayal. However, by castling his stumps, Dayal dismissed the seasoned hitter for 17 off 9 balls.
