At the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) paid INR 11 crore for Jitesh Sharma, despite the player having a few bad seasons. With an unbeaten 19-ball 40 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and 33 off 21 against the Gujarat Titans (GT), he has already made a few significant contributions to his new team.
RCB batting coach Dinesh Karthik, who is coaching Jitesh Sharma in the 2025 Indian Premier League,
Believes that the 31-year-old batsman-wicketkeeper’s desire to learn has paid off handsomely.
He is constantly eager to learn. As he says, “What can I do?” “Anna,” he calls me. Positive and enjoyable chats have been had. “He’s at a point where he’s open to trying anything I say,” Dinesh Karthik stated in the most recent RCB Bold Diaries episode.
He keeps it if he finds it useful. If not, he comes to me and informs me with great honesty and directness. I’m incapable of doing this. What more can you tell me? In that sense, it’s a lot of fun. After a year or two of working with him, I believe I can push the boundaries.
Having participated in every one of the RCB’s six games this season, Jitesh claims to have long recognised the size of the team’s fan following. The crowd was yelling for RCB when I went to play for Syed Mushtaq Ali. It dawned on me then that joining RCB was no little matter. The feeling is different. as between 100 and 150 people were waiting to sign my autograph. “I didn’t anticipate this,” he said.
Currently, with eight points after six games, RCB is ranked third in the IPL 2025 points standings. On Friday, April 18, they play the Punjab Kings (PBKS), who had lost both of their previous games in Bengaluru.
