English cricketer Jos Buttler has heaped praise on top Indian batsman Rohit Sharma. Buttler, who just retired as captain, has remarked that he is mostly impressed with Rohit’s leadership of the Indian cricket team during the last few years. Buttler went on to say that he has grown to admire India’s ODI skipper after seeing what he has accomplished as a leader in such a short period of time.
During an interview with Kookaburra Cricket India, Buttler was asked which cricketer in the country has had a significant impact on him in recent times. “Which Indian cricketer has most impressed you over the last few years?” the interviewee enquired.
“Rohit Sharma, in the way he has captained the country & I think the way he has played, I am a big Rohit fan,” he told reporters.

Both Buttler and Rohit are presently competing in the Indian Premier League 2025. While the Englishman is representing the Gujarat Titans, Rohit is busy with the Mumbai Indians, a team he has led to five titles. Both top-order batters are in excellent form as well. Buttler has 533 runs in 12 innings, while Rohit is also having a good season, scoring 305 runs in twelve games.
Notably, both GT and MI have qualified for the Playoffs and have a decent chance of adding to their trophy collections. The five-time champions last won a crown in 2020, but they haven’t looked particularly good since. However, this season, under Hardik Pandya, the squad is determined to win their sixth championship, which would make them the team with the most titles ever won, a record they share with the Chennai Super Kings now.
GT, on the other side, has qualified for their third playoff appearance in only their fourth season of existence. They won the IPL in 2022, their maiden season, and advanced to the Finals the following year. After a rough season in 2024, the Shubman Gill-led team has recovered and appears practically unbeatable thus far. It will be intriguing to see how MI and GT do in the playoffs.
