At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Gujarat Titans (GT) put on a fantastic display against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Within 18 overs and with eight wickets remaining, the visitors managed to chase down a target of 170 runs. Jos Buttler (73* off 39), Sherfane Rutherford (30* off 18), and Sai Sudharsan (49 off 36) all put up an outstanding batting performance.
During the post-match presentation, Jos Buttler was asked about Phil Salt’s missed catch and responded that he was “embarrassed.”
Fortunately for him, the hitter did not live much longer as he lost an easy catch early in the innings.
“It was fun to bat, the bowlers were excellent, but we could have been chasing 30 runs less if I had done a better job fielding. Salty was a dangerous batter, and I was mortified by his dropped catch. I tried to celebrate too early in the Herschelle Gibbs fashion. At the post-match presentation, Buttler remarked, “We should give our openers credit for playing out the first period because there was some movement early on with the new ball.”
“The fielding could have been better, but we have our bases covered, some fine bowlers, quality batters and some dangerous hitters in our squad,” said the Englishman.
I felt a little sentimental: Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj played for an opposing team in an IPL match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pacer was a vital member of the team during his seven years with RCB. He was named Player of the Match for his three wickets against his old team on the same grounds.
“I felt a little sentimental. I spent seven years here, switched from a red to a blue shirt, and was emotional, but as soon as I got the ball, I was all right. The celebration is because I am a fan of Ronaldo. Although I had been playing regularly, I improved my fitness and fixed my errors throughout the hiatus. When Mohammed Siraj received his Player of the Match award, he said, “I spoke to Ashish (Nehra) Bhai after I was picked up by Gujarat Titans.”
