With the third Test match between the hosts, India and Australia, ending in a tie, cricket action is at its height in Australia. As a consequence, the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25) is tied at one. The series still has two Test matches left, with the fourth Test scheduled for Melbourne on “Boxing Day,” or December 26. Sydney will host the last Test match.
In light of this, the Australian selectors have not yet revealed the starting lineup for the next Melbourne Test. Nevertheless, it was disclosed that Josh Inglis, the wicket-keeper batsman who replaced the injured Josh Hazlewood in India’s opening innings, was dropped from the team and returned to Hobart on Thursday by plane from Brisbane. Notably, Inglis will represent the Perth Scorchers in the current Big Bash League (BBL 2024) season.
Josh Inglis is most likely to be included in the starting lineup for the Scorchers’ matchup with the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday.
According to the calendar, both domestic and international cricket appear to be well-served by the BBL. The Scorchers are scheduled to play in Hobart first, followed by another BBL match in Melbourne on Monday.
It’s interesting to note that the Australian team will do an optional training session at the same location on the same day. Josh Inglis would therefore have more practice time as a result. In addition to him, Beau Webster, a gifted all-around player, was already released to play in Perth.
Duckett and Bethell, two England players, will make their BBL debuts.
Speaking of the BBL 2024–25, the Perth Scorchers have signed pacer Lance Morrise. In addition, the Melbourne Stars strengthened their roster as ace all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is ready to make his BBL comeback following a hamstring injury he suffered on Friday against the Adelaide Strikers.
Ben Duckett, another English talent, arrived in Australia and is probably going to play for the Melbourne Stars in the BBL for the first time. Notably, earlier this year, Ben was selected as a top pick in the foreign players draft. Joe Clarke, who suffered an injury on Wednesday, will be replaced by the powerful English batter. In addition, Jacob Bethell, Duckett’s teammate and a developing star batsman, will make his Melbourne Renegades debut on December 19 in Geelong against the Hobart Hurricanes.
