After the game, Justin Langer, the head coach of Lucknow, appeared at a press conference and seemed to be in a great mood, largely because to his players’ outstanding performance.
At the Ekana Stadium on Friday, April 4, the Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Mumbai Indians in the final over of Match 16 in the 2025 Indian Premier League. In a match that went right down to the wire, their bowlers, namely Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur, were commended for maintaining composure and helping the team win by 12 runs over the Mumbai-based team.
But as the media began to question him, a journalist’s phone call diverted his focus from the subject about their bowler Mayank Yadav’s injury. Yadav is currently recovering at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
In order to lighten the mood in the media room, Langer took the call and even answered it on the reporter’s behalf, verifying that he was attending a press conference. “Who is Maa? Whose mother is calling? Would you like me to respond? As he answered the phone, he joked, “Mom, it’s 12:00 AM, I am at a press conference,” according to a video shared on IPL’s official social media account.

The recovery of Mayank is credited to NCA.
When the 54-year-old returned to his work, he immediately turned to respond to the query about Mayank Yadav’s current situation. The speedster was prepared at the National Cricket Academy, which is now the BCCI Centre of Excellence, according to the former Australia cricket player. He acknowledged that his bowling efficiency has increased, and a few more sessions in Bengaluru might result in the board deeming him healthy enough to return to the LSG lineup.
“Mayank is awake and ready to go. He bowled quite effectively at the NCA in Bangalore yesterday. You probably have a few more bowls left, and perhaps he’ll return. To their credit, NCA has clearly performed admirably because they have taken back both Avesh Khan and our Akash Deep. Therefore, Langer continued, “We truly appreciate the effort they’re doing to get the guys back playing and, perhaps, Mayank as well.
