Mohammad Rizwan has been persuaded by former Pakistani cricketer Kamran Akmal to return home after the current 2025–2026 Big Bash League season. In the league stage match against Sydney Thunder, Rizwan was retired by the Melbourne Renegades due to his inability to sufficiently accelerate throughout the team’s innings.
Kamran Akmal was not satisfied with how the Rizwan affair has made Pakistani cricket a laughing stock in international cricket circles. He suggested that Rizwan stop participating in the edition and go back home so that he could concentrate on helping the Men in Green on the global scene.
We’ve talked extensively about the necessity for Babar and Rizwan to increase their strike rates on YouTube and on other shows. In addition to being ridiculed worldwide, Rizwan’s ordeal has caused embarrassment.
Speaking on GTV Sports, Kamran Akmal said, “Some people are even suggesting that Rizwan should quit the league and go back home.”
Kamran Akmal recalled that Younis Khan, the captain of Pakistan while the 2008 Indian Premier League was in action, was adamant about wanting to be removed from the team if the player failed to make it into the final champions’ starting lineup. Akmal urged Rizwan to do the same.
“Younis Khan, who played for the Rajasthan Royals in the first season of the IPL, was benched. “I am the captain of Pakistan; I will not sit on the bench,” he famously declared. You have to return me with dignity. We have witnessed athletes defend themselves in that way,” he continued.
So far this season, Rizwan’s performances for the Melbourne Renegades have not been the finest. In his first eight innings, he has only managed to score 167 runs. The modest strike rate of 101.82 for the seasoned wicketkeeper-batter has also generated a great deal of debate.
Regarding the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan is yet to reveal their team for the major competition. Since December 2024, when he last faced Pakistan in the game’s shortest format, Rizwan has fallen out of favour. It appears improbable that the cricket player will play in the 20-over format for the competition, which begins on February 7.
