Anshuman Gaekwad, a former Indian cricket player, received a lot of well-wishes as his health deteriorated while receiving treatment for blood cancer at King’s College Hospital in London. When former Indian cricketer Sandeep Patil paid his former teammate a visit, he learnt about Gaekwad’s pressing financial need.
In a self-recorded video, former Indian captain Kapil Dev recently shared his true feelings for his former teammate. He gave a deep and poignant message.
The emotional film showed the World Cup-winning captain from 1983 thinking back on the special times he and Gaekwad shared as teammates. In the second Test of the three-match series at Gandhi Stadium in Jalandhar, Kapil Dev narrated his first experience playing under Gaekwad’s direction, along with the then captain’s double-century against Pakistan.

Not only did Kapil provide Gaekwad with these heartfelt recollections, but he also encouraged him to face his current situation with the same tenacity he demonstrated on the pitch. Along with other intimate recollections and feelings Kapil revealed throughout, the clip featured warm well wishes from the cricketing community and Kapil himself.

Concerning the 71-year-old veteran, the opening batsman was a mainstay in domestic cricket even if he only made 55 appearances for India. Mumbai-born, he represented Baroda in all 261 of his domestic games, scoring 13,737 runs and snagging 177 catches.
