Karachi Kings defeated Quetta Gladiators by 56 runs in Match No. 8 of the 2025 Pakistan Super League at Karachi, making it a lopsided match. Both teams had a strong start to the match, but the Kings’ precision bowling efforts and James Vince’s 70 put them ahead.
The David Warner-led team got off to a great start after choosing to bat first. In just 5.4 overs, Tim Seifert and Warner, the opening duo, raised the score to 60. But as Abrar Ahmed outwitted Warner and Saud Shakeel disposed of Seifert, Quetta recovered.
By the end of the fourteenth over, the Gladiators were ahead at 108/4. However, Vince made sure Karachi Kings concluded with a high score.
Alongside Mohammad Nabi, the Englishman launched a counterattack. The Kings reached 175/7 in their allocated 20 overs when they combined to hammer 67 runs in the last six overs.
Quetta’s chase got off to a bad start as Hasan Nawaz left for just one after Khushdil Shah made a brilliant slip catch and Mir Hamza removed Finn Allen with a slower ball. Nabi later took Rilee Rossouw and Kusal Mendis out. In his allotted four overs, the Afghan all-rounder finished with figures of 2 for 7.
Saud Shakeel, the skipper of Quetta, opened the innings unbeaten at 33 off 40 balls but found it difficult to maintain the necessary pace. At No. 9, Mohammad Amir put on 30 off 16, but it was too late. Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal contributed to finish the innings at 119/9, while Hasan Ali cleaned up the tail by taking three wickets. In the meantime, Vince helped his team secure those two vital points and move up to third place in the standings, earning him his second Player of the Match honour of the year.
