The Karnataka High Court has asked the state government nine questions following the sad Bengaluru stampede tragedy, which killed 11 persons and injured over 40. The RCB management’s celebrations at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium turned sad for some of the fans who were stuck outdoors.
The Karnataka High Court has been supervising the matter following a suo motu writ petition. The HC has asked the state government several serious questions. The High Court, led by Chief Justice V Kameswar Rao and Justice C M Joshi, has asked the government to respond by Tuesday, June 10.

- Who decided to hold the victory celebration? In what manner and when?
- Was any permission sought to organise the event?
- And whether any SOP (standard operating procedure) has been formulated to manage a crowd of 50,000 and above in any sports event and celebrations of this nature?
- What steps were taken to regulate the traffic?
- Was any assessment made in advance on the number of people who may be present at the time of the celebrations?
- What medical and other facilities were arranged at the venue?
- Whether persons injured were given immediate medical attention by the medical experts at the venue? If not, why?
- How much time was taken to take the injured to the hospital?
- What steps were taken to regulate the public/crowd?
The suo motu petition from the Karnataka HC has led to strict actions against the parties involved in the incident. Five police officers, including the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, were suspended. Likewise, the Political Secretary of the Karnataka CM was relieved from his duty.
For those who suffered in the incident, the state government, KSCA, and RCB have vowed to help with monetarily. RCB has additionally established the RCB Cares to take care of the injured people and help the families of the deceased. The Karnataka government has promised to ensure the treatment of victims free of cost.
